subject: Healthy Living For All Americans Is Possible [print this page]

When it comes to lifestyle changes Americans are making changes and those changes are resulting in a decrease in the diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease in this country. Eventually if all goes well it might even result in a decrease in the number of cancers that have been attributed to poor eating and living.

The United States is considered to one of the richest nations on earth, but it does have its share of rich illnesses that much of the world's population don't deal with. A good way to describe this is comparing the U.S. to less developed nations that have constant daily battles securing enough nutritional food and clean water to consume, in addition to not having access to life saving procedures and medications whenever they are needed. The U.S. is plagued with overeating that generally leads to laziness and lethargy of a wealthier society.

All this shift in the thinking of many Americans have given way to citizens taking the matter of their own health into their own hands and being more responsible for themselves and less dependent on someone else to make these changes. Americans who are watching their diets, starting a regular exercise routine and taking sleep and rest more seriously is on the rise everywhere. They recognize the need to push past the old habits that have invaded lives and the changes are helping people to live longer and healthier lives.

DNA research has opened up other information doors and most all researchers will agree that healthy living in and of itself is no guarantee overall, because genetics do play a huge part in a person's predisposition to certain illnesses and diseases that have been passed down via blood lines and generations and are predictable. There are also many other factors that will determine individual health such as bad lifestyle habits that wreck havoc on a person's health both long and short term. These habits can steal away years and can certainly cut life short for some individuals given the right circumstances.

Don't be mislead into thinking that healthy living doesn't have an impact on someone's life, because it most definitely does. Healthy living should include but not limited to eating right, exercising and getting the proper amount of rest. Healthy habits create and strengthen a good long and healthy life foundation that will serve your future well as well as enjoying your family and friends for years to come.
