subject: Easily transportable Alternating current and its ventilation needs [print this page]

You can easily move a portable air conditioning unit from one place to another. No fixed installation is needed in these types of air conditioners. These types of units do require a outlet for venting to maintain its efficient working. These vents can be placed in the windows or walls of the house where cooling is to be done. The venting hoses used in these units are reinforced with the metal and are made with heat proof plastic. When the portable AC is properly positioned, its exhaust hose should be taken out from the room to release the hot air in the atmosphere.

These portable ACs come packed with the necessary installation kit for the proper functioning of the unit. The procedure to install venting is very simple and you just need to follow few steps to achieve a successful venting from the portable air AC. You must first finalize a place in the room where you will place the vent. This would depend upon the room design and it could be a room window, drop ceiling or a wall.

Now you must fix the exhaust connector on the opening provided for the exhaust at the back side of your portable air conditioner. Now you can easily connect the exhaust hose to this exhaust connector. After this venting window kit adaptor can be connected to the window kit. Now just connect the venting kit to the window and close it.

The venting hose length is usually kept at 6-7 feet in length to maintain the efficiency of the air conditioner. The pipe has a 5" diameter.

The manufacturers of these portable air conditioners never recommend the venting from the dryers vent. If there are external vents present in the dryers vent you should avoid using them in the venting operation, because the compressor of the portable AC is not that powerful to push open these flaps and could burn out in the process.
