subject: Why Video Conferencing Has Become So Popular Recently [print this page]

With the globalization of business, remote technology has become a normal part of the technology of the business world. More and more businesses have offices in areas that are not easily reached by the main offices. Many businesses are also outsourcing more and more services such as administration and information technology to independent third parties in other countries with no direct connection to the main business.

Many businesses operate without offices in the traditional sense - using the power of the Internet and the mobile technologies available to the general public to link the appropriate resources without the need for a brick and mortar office.

With this rise in globalization and in remote business in general, there is often no better way to communicate with partners and suppliers than video conferencing. Video conferencing is the cheapest way, and often free, to communicate over country boundaries, as other methods like phone service and even SMS text messaging are less secure and stable. Sometimes the communications networks between countries do not allow it.

However, with the ubiquity of Facebook and their partnership with Skype, the theme of video conferencing has pushed through from the strictly personal use of family and friends to now becoming a completely viable way to conduct business very cheaply over long distances.

Video conferencing has also become quite popular because of the relative ease of the service. With a video conferencing service, there is little more to do than to dial the number of the participants. If the network is internal, it may be even easier than this. However, either way is much easier than phone conferencing, which has not caught up in terms of ease of use.

With video conferencing, it is also possible to conduct remote meetings and stretch a boardroom across continents. Graphs and other visuals can be easily shown via a video conferencing technology on a projector screen. Demos are also much easier to perform over a video conferencing technology.

A video conference is also much easier than the alternatives to link to more than two parties at the same time. There is a definite increasing utility when dealing with video conferencing as opposed to phone conferencing or any other kind of communications service. Video conference can very easily link a number of sources without a slowdown in services.

Overall, the ability to perform many things over a remote network is much easier on a video conferencing technology. It is also much easier to communicate visually, and psychologically, people simply enjoy seeing other people with whom they are interacting. The technology has also progressed much faster than its competition, and all resources of communications providers are trending towards improving their video conferencing technology even further to keep up with their competitors.
