subject: Grovia Diapers Are An Environmentally Friendly Solution For Your Baby [print this page]

It may be that you have reservations about using reusable cloth diapers with your baby, being concerned about always having to deal with dirty diaper liners. And that is a reasonable concern, especially when you are traveling even for a day. Fortunately there are diaper manufacturers, including GroVia diapers, who offer the flexibility of being able to use disposable diaper linings with their outer covering.

Yes, the art and science of diapering has advanced much like aerospace technology. GroVia diapers is a company started by a frustrated mom a few years ago, and has already grown dramatically. A major reason for that is that they make a great diaper, one with an all-in-one (AIO) design that allows a single diaper to fit Little Junior as she or he grows.

GroVia diapers folks are very environmentally aware, and clearly encourage

folks to go with reusable diapers instead of disposables. However they realize that sometimes a disposable diaper is the only sensible way to go, especially when you're on vacation. So they came up with an eco-friendly disposable insert that fits into their reuable outer covering.

There are three primary product types related to the diaper system. First is the simple cloth diaper in an AIO configuration. The reusable inner insert is washed after use. The outer covering is available in numerous colorful designs. The inner lining snaps into the outer covering and is easily removed and replaced. The dirty lining goes in the diaper pail for cleaning.

Another choice offered by GroVia diapers is a hybrid product, where you get the same outer coverings, but the inner lining can either be the reusable cloth pads, or can be a disposable pad known as the BioSoaker. This would make sense for when you mainly want to use reusable diapers, but need the flexibility of disposables at various times. It's not hard to think of occasions and situations where you just can't haul around a bag of dirty diaper liners waiting for a washing machine. So they have their ecologically sensitive disposable pads that are made without chlorine and other nasty components.

For people who do not want reusable cloth liners, but want to be thoughtful of the environment, GroVia diapers offers their BioDiaper. This beauty is fully biodegradable and even compostable. It is made without plastic and chlorine and is easy on Baby's skin. It's smaller than the AIO reusable system and takes up less space in your travel bag but, admittedly, is not as eco-friendly and is not a one-size-fits-all. The company uses a manufacturer in China, but insists that they monitor the work environment carefully.

In terms of availability, the BioDiaper is sold in quantities of 112 to 160 per package, depending on the size. The four sizes fit babies from 7 lbs to 50 lbs. The hybrid version sells for around $15 or more, but can handle the reusable cloth insert or the disposable BioSoaker pads. Finally are the cloth GroVia diapers, which you can buy in bulk packs of 12. These will likely run you around $10 to $15 each. They do sell training pants also.
