You cant forget about desert! Mix batter according to package directions. Grease Pyrex bowl and pour in batter. Bake a little longer than recommended baking time. Flip "soccer ball cake" onto the sheet cake. Sprinkle around the cake with green-tinted coconut to form the playing field. Ice the soccer ball cake with a thin layer of white icing. Draw the soccer ball design with a toothpick, outline the design with black icing and fill in with white icing. Plan a green "grass" icing with a small round shaped cake. Decorate as a soccer ball on top of chocolate cake (the dirt) or you can make chocolate cup cakes and decorate them as soccer balls for an easy treat.
Soccer Party Games and Activities:
The highlight of the party will be on the Foosball Table with a Foosball Tournament. There are a few things you want to make sure you do so that everyone at the party understands the tournament rules and also does not get too upset if they dont win. To set up teams, I would just pull names out of a hat. You dont want people to feel bad if they get picked last. Then set the teams up on the single elimination tournament board on the wall. This board should be on something huge like a poster board so they everyone can see when they are up and the score/ winners of the games. Typically games are played until the first team hits 5 goals. You are going to have to see the skill level of your guest and the amount of teams to see if you need to make 3 or 4 goals to keep the tournament going. Then follow the rules of a single elimination tournament to determine the winner.
Other activities that can be going on while the Foosball Table tournament is being played are having guests make their own English Muffin Pizza or Soccer ball cupcake to help pass time while games are being played. Also, you can have kids play soccer on the Wii to really keep them moving. Or as group activity, most party stores will have soccer ball pinatas or you can easily make them yourself and for decorations you can hang them from the ceiling or hit open.
Soccer Party Favors:
You can have an awards ceremony after the end of the Foosball Table theme party to present a trophy to the winner of the tournament or even just a nice soccer ball as an award for winning. If it fits the budget I would suggest giving all the kids at the party, trophies so there are no hard feelings to the team that did not win.
