subject: Thoughts When Grilling [print this page]

Its great knowing when summer is here you can start to barbeque. Also outdoor activities are a must, quite often at this stage the children are out of school, families might be going places for a break. , it is unheard of for a family to go a full summer without a barbeque.

When its summer its the right time to start a barbeque. Dont forgewt certain stuff when barbequing to ensure that your barbeque goes well.

What to do and not do when grilling

1. Always start with a completely clean grill. No-one likes a fishy taste with other food, unless you want a hint of other flavours, dont be lazy and get cleaning that grill. It is recommended that you clean you grill each and every time you use it. Wait until it cools down, and then clean the surfaces with baking soda and just use dish soap and water for the racks.

2. Before putting things on the grill, spray your cooking area with a nonstick cooking spray. This will prevent your meat from sticking when moving the food about. If your meat sticks and tears, the lose of juice will happen, and your meat may dry out.

3. Ensure food starts to cook straight away with the barbeque the right temperature. The fluctuation in temperatures will cause your food to dry out or burn. When using charcoal, get the charcoal a good grey colour before grilling. The temperature will then be even, if you used lighter fluid this would have evaporated.

4. Marinating meat will increase flavour, but any sauces you put on meat before cooking might cause it to dry out, otherwise you will end up with your meat burnt. The fat and sugar in a lot of sauces causes this, therefore you end up with meat thats burnt. On the other hand, some seasoning really helps, and will not have any adverse results. But in using any sauces, just put it on meat at the end of cooking. Any meat you use has got natural taste this is extracted when barbequed,so take care not to do to much and ruin any flavours.

5. To keep the flavours together sear the meat, just sear the meat for a short amount of time. Once you have seared both sides, turn the heat down. This will ensure that your meat is full of flavour and tender.

6. After grilling the meat, never put it back in on the same plate you had it on when it was raw. You may get ill if this happens.Do not handle cooked meat with the same utensils that you used when it was raw.

7. Also make sure you dont prod meat to much. Juices and flavour can be lost when you do this. This will not only affect your food, but it will had an adverse effect on your grill. At the very least, you end up with grease on your cooking surface, this makes the cleaning process long winded.
