subject: Nissan Used Cars The Sentra [print this page]

The Fifth generation of Nissan used cars like there Sentra model have been a very reliable and popular car to buy new. This particular model has been around since the 1980s and is one of the more affordable Nissan cars you can buy new or used. This is a vehicle that is reasonably good at the gas pumps and provides comfort, with a sporty flare. The Sentra which is in the (affordable) small-sedan segment of the auto industry, competes against the likes of the Chevrolet Cavalier, Dodge Neon and the Honda Civic just to name a few.

The Nissan Sentra is a four-door sedan, which has five different models to choose from. The Sentra starts with the 1.8 and 1.8s models; these come in either a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual transmission. The next model up, the 2.5 S and the SE-R come only in a four-speed automatic transmission and their best model, the SE-R Spec V comes only in a six-speed manual transmission. The SE-R and the SE-R-Spec V both have sport suspension and use 16-inch and 17-inch wheels respectively. The 1.8 models use a 15-inch wheel and do not have four wheel disc brakes like the other models. The SE-R Spec V also has a unshared exterior and interior trim with special sports seats not available in other models.

There are several different fuel statistics for the various different models. The 1.8 models had a fuel rating 9-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 6.5-litres, per 100km, for highway driving. The SE, 2.0-litre models had a fuel rating of 9.8-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 7.2-litres, per 100km, for highway driving. The SE-R, 2.5-litre model had a fuel rating of 10-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 7.3-litres, per 100km, for highway driving.

Engine sizes varied for the different models the Nissan Sentra has to offer. The base models use a four-cylinder, 1.8-litre engine and this produces 126 horsepower with 129 pounds per feet of torque. The SE model uses a 2.0-litre engine and this produces 145 horsepower with 136 pounds per feet of torque. The SE-R uses a 2.5-litre engine and this produces 165 horsepower with 175 pounds per feet of torque. The Spec V uses the same engine but has 175 horsepower with 180 pounds per feet of torque.

Lets look at some of the pros and cons of the Nissan Sentra as a used car to look at:

1-A leading online consumer watch dog gives the fifth generation Nissan Sentra an average rating as a used car.

2-There are problems with the cylinder head gasket on the 2.5-litre engine.

3-It was given a four star rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for driver and passenger protection, when a crash test was done to it.

I hope this helps if youre looking at Nissan used cars like the Sentra.
