subject: A Recipe For Turning Anxiety And Panic Into A Positive Experience [print this page]

Our fundamental instinct is to confront, run from and avoid anxiety and/or panic. Our mind and body has to rustle up some method to end it as quickly as possible so that we may return to feeling calm once again.

Can we turn anxiety and panic into a positive experience?

So, can we replace fear with readiness by flipping a mental switch?

What if you may very well become aware of how to turn anxiety into excitement instead of trying to generate some kind of inner calm and get swifter results?

By switching your anxiety to excitement, you can quickly throw out the fear factor.

This is because being freaked-out and excited are actually duplicate physiological states for your body.

Therefore your mind can adjust to the switch between those two states with a good deal less energy, as opposed to switching from anxious to calm.

So you see, now that the apprehension has been snuffed out, you will feel in control once more and a state of coolheadedness will materialize naturally.

Here's the deal

Let's use a panic attack as an image. Panic attacks are almost always touched off by bodily sensations.

Possibly you're feeling befuddled or your body begins to shake. Let's say your chest feels tight or your heart begins to pound.

You recognize all to well what's about to go on and in a split second your mind answers with alarm to these bodily sensations.

"Oh crap it's starting again, I'm beginning to have a panic attack! What if I lose control? Am I going to die"?

Your spontaneous counter reaction is so surprisingly sudden that it is near impossible to muffle. However, now you are wary of what is happening and NOW is your moment to cease reacting and to select a new response.

Other than reacting with panic and resistance to the sensations, you are now going to answer with fascination and warmth.

Here is the primary plan:

1. Do not fight or challenge the bodily sensations. Be cognizant that you are secure, these sensations can't injure you.

2. Readily accept the sensations and anxiety you feel in lieu of thinking of it as an enemy.

3. Take in the sensations fully and them with a good-natured curiosity.

4. Now mess around with the sensations and motivate them to become more acute.

Get into this intensified state of arousal then finesse the energy out and fly with it. Don't seek to regulate it.

Empower your mind to race and your body shake. Let your chest feel tight and your heart pound. Experience every eruption and feel altogether stoked and alive because of it.

Now you're doing something entirely different

You are not challenging any more. You are adopting and moving with the experience.

This experience is a total rush of unquestionable invigoration as you ride the wave of apprehension instead of empowering it to cast you around.

Some individuals compare this high to that of skydiving. It's something riveting that they are eagerly participating in.

We can turn anxiety and panic into a positive experience by becoming totally hopped-up by our anxiety. You can vigorously eliminate the power it holds over you and put yourself right back into a position of total control.
