subject: Getting The Amount Of Rest You Need Each Night [print this page]

As impossible and difficult as it might be sometimes to get the proper amount of rest that you need every night and you still could feel like you are loosing the battle if you cannot find a solution soon and very soon. These are the days that have many things that can and do keep us from getting a good night's sleep and without good sleep we will soon be experiencing other serious health problems as well. This lack of sleep can be responsible for staying focused and/or short tempered; because the less sleep you get at night means the quality of your life drops. If, by chance you think that less sleep means you have more time to get things done; just the opposite is true if you are striving for quality and not quantity.

You can always know that things are less than structurally sound when you don't take the time to take care of your sleep and rest. You must create enough sleep time usually by putting everything else on hold and make sure that you daily routine includes a steady sleep routine without relapsing back into a full speed no rest day.

It is your responsibility to schedule quality sleep time every day to ensure continued good health, however, many people either don't bother with such a schedule or fall off the wagon so to speak, in favor of other things that soon replace the sleep hours with less than quality results.

When it comes to sleep per night most people get five hours or less a night but ideally a person should be shooting for 7-10 hours a night. Obviously ten is a number that is on the high side but it is also more ideal then 5 hours. To best determine if you are getting the right amount of sleep choose a bedtime and head to bed at that time each and every night and set your alarm for the morning hours. Then after about a week or two of getting a full night's rest you will begin to see exactly how much sleep has you up and going on time and once you have begun to settle into a routine you will likely know exactly what time you will have to wake up to feel refreshed.

Most people who begin to create a sleep routine based on not only their scheduling needs but also on their body's needs actually find that they are much more functional over a long period of time and that they feel better, are more functional, and are much more capable of handling whatever comes their way. Rest is a key component to a healthy and happy life.
