One of the natural oils that we dont hear much about is olive oil. Olive oil has been used from the beginning of time for many reasons and has more positive characteristics than most people are aware of. It can be used internally or externally. It is good as a food product or supplement. Olive oil is a definite must have for every household. Be sure to keep the pure, virgin olive oil on hand because it has more of the natural goodness which makes it sich a good product.

Olive oil is one of healthiest components that you can use. It comes directly from the Mediterranean Region and it has become so famous that it has been used all over the world. It has been ranked among the top nutrition provider. It has been widely used in soaps, cosmetics, and salad dressings. It can also be used to cook or flavor foods and for nutrition and first aid. Olive oil is also an excellent moisturizer.

Olive oil is excellent cosmetic oil and is good for the treatment of finger nails and hands. Do you remember the commercials where the beautician would have women to soak their hands in dishwashing liquid? She did so because the dish washing liquid contained olive oil. Why not just forget about the detergent and use pure olive oil for the soak. Olive oil will be absorbed into the skin where it remains for quite a while as it fills and moisturizes the cells. The oil does not evaporate so it remains in place where it shares its nutritive ingredients with the skin that it contacts. Olive oil is the best solution for chapped lips. Lips cant produce natural oils to moisturize themselves so olive oil helps chapped skin. It moisturizes and protects the skin while it nourishes the dry damaged skin cells.

Olive oil is also good for hair and scalp treatment. It is a dandruff fighter and it is an excellent moisturizer for dry hair. Once again it nourishes as it moisturizes so it changes the character of the hair and makes it easy to manage. It is light so it doesnt just sit on the hair or scalp and collect dirt. The best way to use olive oil to treat the scalp is to just apply it and allow it to sit for a while. If you use it on your hair apply it and allow it to sit under a shower cap for at least thirty minutes. Afterwards you can wash the hair to remove any excess oil.

You can put a little olive oil in your bath water to moisturize the skin or you can add it to unscented lotions or liquid soaps. You can also apply it to a wet cloth and rub it on after a shower. After you have done this stand under a shower for a few minutes. Use a towel to dry yourself afterwards.

If you need to use it as cleansing oil apply it to your skin and scrub the skin with sugar. This will remove excess dirt and dead skin. Once you have scrubbed thoroughly wash the sugar from your face using plenty of warm water. Apply olive oil and then scrub with good amount of sugar. Later, wipe the sugar off your face with wet and warm cloth. You can also use this oil on your feet and toe nails to soften. You can use it to soften toe nails before you trim them if you wish. Do this immediately after taking a shower. Apply the olive oil to your toe nails and let it sit for a few minutes. This makes it easier to trim and shape them. It also makes it easier to remove dead skin from around them.

Olive oil can be mixed with many different common kitchen products for facials and other treatments. There is almost no end to the ways that you can use this wonderful product. Many of the recipes that I have mentioned require adding the oil to another ingredient but it is always best to use olive oil right out of the bottle in its pure state.Fragrance Oil Express
