subject: Making Needed Changes In Your Business [print this page]

Simply because you have the plan to make the changes doesnt mean that they are going to be implemented without any difficulties. That also does not meant that it has to be a problem to get them done. What it means is that there is always going to be some sort of resistance, either to the idea or the change itself, or both. One of the hardest parts of making a change in anything is convincing all parties that the change is needed and the change will be for the best.

Sometimes you're forced to change, and because of circumstances that are beyond the control of the moment, they have to be done quickly. When change is forced on an individual or on a organization, then the results are often less than desirable and the outcome is less than what is needed. But if the changes are voluntary and the ideas are well presented, then the chance of acceptance and success is much higher.

But the ideas have to be presented in a way, not spun or twisted, but presented in a way that makes sense to the individuals that they are going to affect. Sure, you can make the men and women accept the changes, but if they do not believe in the changes, then it is a much harder process. And when you make the process harder, you leave the door open for failure and for other possible problems to develop. So it's very important to have very detailed explanations and numbers to back up what you are proposing.

The only way to do that is to actually do the research that it takes to develop such information. This is not a guessing game; this isn't something that may be done overnight or without some forethought. Change that's done in that manner will only come back to haunt you down the road. It involves research and observation and figuring out what works and what does not work so well.

After that, you have to present ideas that fix what didnt work so well and offer solutions to the problems. Without the research, you would be just taking a stab in the dark and not really offering the correct solutions to the problem and that just wastes everybodys time. What you want is ways to save time, to save money and wasting time and money on ideas that have no merit is just not worth it.
