subject: Reducing Your Risk For Male And Female Cancers [print this page]

Some of the most prevalent and most dangerous cancers come from both female and male reproductive organs and while this can be a hard subject to talk about it's one that really hits home for a lot of men and women. Most women think about visiting their Ob/Gyn through their reproductive and intimately active times but then as they age they tend to think less and less about visiting the doctor just for regular checkups. Unfortunately, this is a mistake that most men also make and in their case even the medical profession tells men to wait until they hit 50 to have a prostate exam and the question is why? It's like telling women to wait until they are 40+ to start having mammograms.

A large number of these cancers in the reproductive organs can result in serious harm and in a lot of cases even death. It's very likely that those who experience these kinds of cancers will have spread to the other major organs and regions of the body as most cancer is known to spread to the lungs, bone, and brain in addition to other areas of the body.

In many cases it's not the reproductive cancer that kills but the spread of it to the lymph nodes and to other more significant areas of the body. While in many cases it may be able to be surgically removed, once spread to other areas begins it becomes an entirely different story. This is why early detection is so important and early screenings are so necessary.

It may perhaps be important if you want to avoid these male and female reproductive cancers to take a proactive approach and this may perhaps mean not just investigating if you're genetically predisposed to these forms of cancer but this may also mean making sure your doctor is doing all the tests they possibly can do to detect these forms of cancer on the early side and not just following a specific protocol.

When it comes to your health it's up to you and not your doctor to make certain that you're getting what you need and whether that's by way of a specific test or even a certain treatment no one but you should ultimately be in charge of your destiny. After all, your life is yours and no one but you has as much invested in your health, well-being, and survival.
