subject: Your Hotel Room Should Feel Like A Mix Of Home And Vacation [print this page]

Staying in a hotel is like going on a vacation. You dont need to worry about getting it too messy and you dont have to worry about vacuuming it or dusting it or cleaning the bathroom. This is all built into the price of the room and it's like having a house cleaner for a couple of days. Now, you dont want to be a pig and leave a mess for the sake of leaving a mess, in actual fact most people clean up just like they would at home so as to not be disrespectful and to not embarrass themselves.

But then again, when you're staying in a hotel you should feel like you're on vacation, whether you're on a organization trip or actually on a vacation. You should feel special, but you also want to feel all of the comforts of home. These comforts of home, feeling less like a strange place, but more familiar and comfortable, allow for longer stays and allow for the customer to feel more relaxed.

Simple things can add to this feeling of home such as friendly staff members, the difference between feeling like just another guest or feeling like a friend makes a huge difference. It's such things as when the front desk clerk remembers the names of the guests and makes a friendly gesture, saying good evening or asking how they are.

When the guest doesnt feel like just another number, when they feel like the hotel makes just a little more effort towards their comfort, it makes the experience that much more pleasant and really can make the difference between staying at the hotel again. Little things are frequently the difference between repeat business and a one night stay.

And that is among the biggest challenges in the hotel business, to get men and women to come back again. The way to do that is to make the guest feel comfortable and appreciated with little things that they would not normally expect. These little things that are unexpected, but usually very appreciated, are the kinds of things that make men and women want to come back for more and to tell their friends and families about. When somebody has a good experience they are willing to share it with men and women that they care about, but when they have a bad experience, they are even more willing to share it with everybody that they know.
