"It was a good test and we're very happy with the general reliability of the car and the performance of all the components," said the 30 year Briton.
Mercedes recently launched this new-generation vehicle, based on their Mercedes-Benz C-Coupe. Among the new features of the C-Coupe, which is built by AMG around a common carbon fiber safety cell, are a high-strength steel roll cage, reduced aerodynamics and larger wheels and tires compared to the car it replaces.
Paffett pointed out one of the key differences between his current DTM race car a 2009-spec C-class saloon and the new machine was in its similarities to a single-seater.
However he was of opinion that the DTM's move towards larger tires and wheels, next year and simplified aerodynamics would not mean a considerable change in handling characteristics from the machines.
"It's still very much a DTM car it hasn't changed that much," the former champion uttered. "Yes there are bigger tires so there's more mechanical grip than before, and the aerodynamics has changed, but it's not that significant."
