subject: 5 Ways To Fly Away [print this page] Have you ever had a moment when all you wanted to do was close your eyes and float away? When the chaos and noise of life was getting to you so much that you, at least for a brief moment in time, wanted to block it all out? How does one do that in a reasonable and responsible way you ask? Well there are a few ways:
1. Go for a walk:
When feeling like it's all gotten to be too much, go for a walk. Don't take a phone or anything else. Just go, you the road, and maybe some music in your ears. Take a deep breath and block everything else out. Appreciate the beauty of the world without the distractions of people, pressure and pollution.
2. Journal:
Sometimes the best thing to do when feeling a bit suffocated is to write it all down. You don't need to analyse it, just put it on paper. Write the things that you observe, the things that you find beautiful, the things that inspire you. Take pictures of them and collect them in a book.
3. Take a class:
Always dreamed of taking an acting class? Interested in floristry? Want to learn to tap dance? Sign up for a class! Taking a class that has nothing to do with what you do professionally, or with your friends or any other aspect of your life other than general interest is a great way to clear your mind and do something for yourself.
4. Fly in a hot air balloon:
To really experience the sensation of flying go for a hot air balloon ride. Book a sunrise or sunset flight and soar high above the trees into the clouds. Look out at all the world's beauty beneath you and take a deep breath. Interacting with nature in that intimate way does something beautiful to the mind which is hard to describe.
5. Read a book:
The best part about fiction is that you can get involved in the characters lives without being asked for anything in return. It is one of the few relationships in life where they can entertain you and you don't have to do anything to entertain them. This is why books, television, music and movies are so relaxing.
When you live and work in a big city, it's difficult to retreat from it. That's why it is especially important to take the time for yourself and do something truly special with it.
