subject: How To Take Advantage Of Log Cabins [print this page]

If you or someone in the family is musical, then a log cabin can make a great practise space or recording studio. Modern soundproofing can be far cheaper than you might think, and when attached to the walls of the cabin mean that you can play away without having to interrupt or irritate the neighbours. When the sound is isolated, they can also make a great place to record a few songs in a far cheaper environment than a conventional recording studio, saving you thousands in the long run, whether music is a hobby or how you actually make your living.

Another option for you to re invent your purchase is for you to turn it into a studio in the traditional sense, as in for an artist. It is easy enough for you to hang other works around the room as a form of inspiration, and most modern log cabins will offer some form of window and door which should enable you to provide more than enough natural light for an artist to work in. As well as that, you could also provide easels, brushes, paintpots and the like and potentially use it as a studio for hire instead. This would help you narrow the margin on your investment, which is never a bad idea.

Alternatively, you could instead take a more traditional route with your purchase, and use the unique construction that comes with log cabins as an alternative form of accommodation. You would be surprised how many people are happy to sleep somewhere unique. If you take the time to treat your cabin with the same sense of respect as you do the other rooms in your house, then you could create the perfect decorations for the cabin and have a room that is just as high a standard as your other guest rooms. Over Christmas, extra beds are never a bad idea.

A final option, and one that many people still take advantage of, is to turn log cabins into a great working environment. If you are someone who works from home, you will know that whilst the spare room can make a good office, there are also plenty of distractions around like the television and the bed (it is very easy to oversleep when you work from home). If you purchase some good office equipment and furniture, then a cabin can make the ideal working environment without all the distractions of the home, which will make it more than worth the money. You might also be able to claim back some of the refurbishment costs over the course of the year.
