subject: The Best and Quickest Way to Copy and Save a Movie DVD [print this page]

Do you want to copy a movie DVD that you brought from a nearby DVD rental store to your PC or Laptop and then copy back to a DVD for your own personal use in the future? Well, it is quite easy to do that I'll share with you a few tips to do that. Let me tell you, this involves only some steps and even a kid can do this.

* First thing that you need to do is to insert the DVD movie you may want to copy in the DVD drive of your PC or your Laptop. Now, using a Windows explorer open and view the contents of the DVD. There, you can see a folder named VIDEO_TS. Copy that folder to any location of your choice on your hard drive.

* Now, connect your PC to the internet and search for Free DVD + Download', using Google or Yahoo. Open the first link that appears on the results page. Click on the Download icon and run free DVD. You just need to download and run the free version of Free DVD' and not the platinum version. The free version is only 44KB in size and does not need you to do any installation at all.

* When you open the Free DVD, click on the file and select the VIDEO_TS folder you had copied and saved to your hard drive in the earlier step. You will now see a pop up alerting you of the limitations or restrictions that will be removed.

* Just keep the settings of your Free DVD as default and don't adjust. If you need to do any adjustments, of course you can go ahead and do that. You can now click on the Free DVD button to get rid of all copy restrictions from the DVD movie. The DVD movie will now be saved on your hard drive and you can see it at anytime you wish to see.

* Now, if you wish to save this video to a blank DVD you can download and use the software, DVD Shrink. One good thing about DVD Shrink is its ability to cut down the size of the video allowing you to save the video on a normal DVD rather than using a dual layer disc. However, I would always recommend you to use Free DVD first and I assure, you won't run into any issues or problems.

See, how easy it is to back up your DVD! Now, let me tell you one thing, the instructions and steps mentioned above are for educational purposes only and only for your own home made movies.
