subject: The perfect career: Computers [print this page] As we roll on into the 2000's, the mind set and jobs of the 1940s-1980s is gone. Along with this, the work ethic of those times are gone as well. The business man portfolio that was once so popular is fading away with our upcoming technology age. As the world grows with technology we are finding out that we need more jobs to help service these technologies. Simply being a "business man" is not enough anymore.
First what do I mean by a career in computers? Exactly that. A job working with computers. Web design, Programming, IT work, CIS, networking, etc. The list goes on. With one degree in any CIS program, you could beapplicable for more than 1000+ jobs. Lets say you get a CIS Diploma in Web Design. You are then able to do many things: Become free-lance and make websites, work for a small company updating there website, work for a large company with a team of web site designers, work for a company that MAKES websites for people, etc.
With one simple computer degree you will be able to do many things. The best part is that these jobs are IN DEMAND! Think about all thetechnologicaladvances we are achieving as well, more jobs will be created! This is your time to shine, you are the generation that can fill these jobs shoes.
The computer area is in my eyes a "skilled trade". Which it basically is. Sure the average person can use a computer, but the average person can also not figure a lot out on a computer. Who is going to make our companies websites? Our small business's websites? EVERYONE needs a website! EVERY company needs somebody to manage networking for them. EVERY company needs SOMETHING related to computers.
Your options are limitless. Tech schools (or trade schools) are on a rise with many people enrolling. You can earn a 2 year degree in many CIS programs and get your career on the go. Trade school is the best option for you if you know what you want to do. Take charge and invest in learning for a career that will ALWAYS be in demand!
