subject: My spirit is dead [print this page] I have trouble accepting spirituality in fact I am not even sure what it means. I see people go to church and close their eyes and pray and I am wondering what the hell they are praying to? Do they actually think someone up in the sky is listening and looking down at them and granting them a wish. And lets say they do pray for someone that is dying, or sick or a new car or whatever, and the person gets better or they get the car. My guess is they were going to get better all along and their coin just flipped the right way this time, or they got a tax return they weren't expecting and got the car they wanted.
I'm sure people in prison pray to get the hell out of there. I am sure people starving some place are praying for food. Where's their payout?
Beyond formal religeon, you got these people that say they're are spiritual but not religeous.
These are going to be the type of people that meditate and I've read all those books about the bliss that comes with meditation and I have to tell you meditation does pretty much nothing for me. I sit there and close my eyes and there is no bliss. All there is emptiness. Black lonliness. I'd rather be having a beer with my friends. I really don't believe in any of this stuff. Spirtituality and religeon are just one more way to say I am a little bit better than that other guy. I am more spiritual then him. I know something or have something he doesn't have. Get it straight no one has something you don't have because there is nothing to have. No one can teach you something about spirituality because there is nothing to be taught. Give up on it. Accept being miserable if your miserable and if your not miserable give me some of those drugs.
