subject: Can I Get Rid of the Oils on my face and have no acne? [print this page]

Most people believe that if you have acne, you have oily skin. Can dry skin have acne? The common misconception is that only people with oily skin have acne. Removing oils and drying out the skin will not work (unless your skin is actually oily). Remember that keeping the skin oil free and drying it are two different things. There are many ways to treat acne, what are they?

Acne and Benzoyl peroxide-

If you currently only have black/whiteheads, the best thing to use is called Benzoyl Peroxide. If this doesn't actually work, use salicylic Acid. These are over the counter products and over time will rid yourself of acne. Never squeeze your acne as this can actually create scars. Let your acne dry with the medicine and after some time the discoloration will go away.

Acne and retinoids-

If you have a severe case of acne, antibiotics and retinol creams may be the best way to go. Antibiotics will be able to stop the acne from spreading, while the retinol will be able to dry out the skin and remove the blockage causing acne,

The above are only two of the products that can be used to fix acne. Always remember that acne can be cured, so down get to down on yourself. But in the end the main person you should go to for help is your dermatologist. They paid big money to go to school to be able to fix skin problems. Acne is such a wide problem that they literally have hundreds of creams/ointments etc. just to market to teens and adults.

This article was meant to be an informative article and should be used as such. I would alwaysrecommenddoing research before taking drastic measures involving your skin. Remember once again that the dermatologist is your best friend! That is why you pay them, they will help you.
