Both repair technicians and circuit board inspectors love the Mantis Microscope because it combines a bright, big, crystal clear image with a huge amount of space to work under the instrument. This combination is hard for competitors to beat. Now this wonderful microscope has been further enhanced with a feature long requested by users: a built-in camera. This new unit, called the Mantis Elite-CAM, allows techs to do all their usual work but also lets them document both their QC inspection and work.

The Mantis Elite, as many techs well know, is a combination of a microscope and a magnifier. Its huge image allows users to inspect their work in a more comfortable position. In addition, the lenses come without eyepieces, an advancement that allows for a truly ergonomic workstation and increases worker productivity and comfort.

The new design of the Mantis Elite can take lenses from magnifications as low as 2x on up to 20x, and allows workers to use two lenses at the same time. Flicking the lens turret will rotate the chosen magnification right into position. Also, most lenses you can use are upwardly parfocal, allowing workers to switch from lower magnifications to get a slightly better perspective for inspections to higher magnification for more detailed work. The best part is that this can be done without needed to put any parts down.

Capabilities of the Mantis Elite-CAM

Ryan Springell, designer of the Mantis Elite-CAM, assures loyal users and future customers that including a high resolution camera in the Mantis head will increase device utility. He notes that over 150,000 Mantis microscopes have been sold all over the world due to its optics and ergonomic advantages. As times change, however, he feels that it is time to change the Mantis as well, in order to meet customer's ever-changing requirements. Each Mantis system is dedicated to quality and no matter what the model, it is important that workers can communicate findings to their colleagues easily and quickly. Springell assures customers that the Mantis Elite-Cam not only offers the advantages of the original model, such as easier inspection, but also lets workers view their work optically and digitally with the capabilities provided for digital image capture.

The Elite-CAM features a pre-assembled and sealed head, and is easy to learn and use. It allows users to save images in commonly used formats such as JPEG, PNG, and BMP. A USB 2.0 port is all one needs to connect the unit and experience its full functionality.
