If you would just ignore the situation or avoid it, it would intensify rather than stopping. Simple things like talking to a friend on the onset of a panic attack, thinking of happy memories during a panic attack would make its duration shorter. As for decreasing the intensity and the frequency of the attacks, you might start relaxing a lot, take short deep breaths, exercise a lot, give yourself a lot of time and enjoy every moment of your life. Even facing your fears once would make you strong enough to let go of them and stop a possible panic attack. Whatever it is, apart from doctor's treatment it is up to you to get rid of them.
