In order to get the things we desire, we must show gratitude for the things that we already have and show appreciation for the people that provide it for us. When you wake up each morning, try to reflect on what you're thankful for. All the good things like your job, family, and friends, even if you don't like your job, or you are having family problems, etc. Try your best to appreciate the little things as well, like the place you live and the food you eat as well.

It is sometimes easy to want more than what you have, but that doesn't mean you can't be grateful for the things you do have. If you make sure to start your day feeling thankful for these things, you will have a positive attitude and you will keep from taking things for granted as you go about your day.

A good way of motivating yourself for the future is to use your thankfulness to your advantage. For example, tell yourself, "I am so happy for my new promotion and my wonderful wife", even if you are beginning your career and are a bachelor. This can give you a mindset that there is no doubt that you will achieve these things, and make you work harder to make sure that you get them. It might feel different at first using present tense to describe things you want, but if you train your mind the right way it can help you achieve the things that you desire.
