Anything that is properly maintained and taken care of will have a longer life than something that has been neglected. Washington DC Nissan offers a few tips for helping you extend the life of your Nissan's tires by maintaining them properly:

Check Out Your Tires' Appearance

You can usually tell just with a quick look if your Nissan's tires are in need of air. Try to train yourself to look at the tires before you get in the car each morning. If you think they've lost air, stop at the gas station on the way to wherever your going and check the air pressure. Add air if necessary. If it seems your tires are losing air regularly, bring your car into the Washington DC Nissan dealership and we can plug any holes or get you a new set of tires if necessary.

Check the Actual Tire Pressure Monthly

It's also a good idea to check the air pressure of your tires at least once a month. You can do this for free at most gas stations. Check your Nissan car manual to find out the recommended air pressure for your tires and car, and then add air if it is too low.

Wash Tires Frequently

Most people only wash their tires when they run the car through a car wash. If you're not washing your Nissan at least once a month, consider washing just the tires to remove road debris, dirt and grime that accumulates. These things can melt to the tires and cause them to wear quickly or get holes.

Rotate Tires

Rotate your Nissan's tires every 8,000 miles to reduce wear and tear and extend their usefulness.
