Trout fishing is one thrilling activity that is not as easy as it seems. One should be properly prepared before moving to the trout fishing location. Choosing the right kind of bait is also one of the major concerns.

If you opt to go bait fishing, what do you think is the perfect trout bait? Most probably, there will be long discussions about the matter so I will just suggest some of the favorites of anglers to give you an idea what particular bait that could be used for trout.

Worms; There are plenty of worms that you can use in trout fishing and the Hank Hill is the most popular. This is also called "The good old American worm" which is very good in catching trout. The big worms are called night crawlers while red worms are the smaller ones. There are two kinds of worms used: maggots and meal worms. Meal worms are ice bait and are used throughout the year. Earthworms can also be used as your bait but not as effective as the previous worms. All these worms are effective in trout fishing especially if you present them in the natural manner with the use of gang hooks. Minnows are also small worms and could be used as your live bait. Although they are great for trout fishing, it is very hard to keep them alive. Trout also love leeches. Like minnows, they are hard to bring but are super effective.

Kitchen baits; Kitchen baits such as corn, mallows and cheese are also used in trout fishing. They are very useful most especially if you are catching some stocked trout. Stocked trout are the ones placed by the fish department in fishing area. They are best employed using hooks with a size not larger than 8.

Crayfish; Big trout love crayfish especially if it is alive. On the other hand it is best if you have the soft shelled crayfish. They should be rigged on a set of gang hooks in order to be more effective.

Insects; Insects such as grasshopper and crickets are very fun to use for trout fishing. They are very helpful to catch trout since they are the trout's natural food.

These are just few of the live baits for trout fishing. Other live baits includes stone fly nymphs, mayflies, hellgrammites which are best used during early summer and spring.

Next time you go trout fishing, be sure that you use some of the mentioned above and they guarantee you of a successful fishing trip.
