There are many tips available that will help you get more bites when you go fishing for crappie. The strategy that you should use will depend a lot on where and when you fish. The type of water you're fishing in and your skill levels are also factors. However, out of all the tips you can receive, here are four excellent crappie fishing tricks that are simple enough for anyone to use anywhere.

Once you find a location that has a school of crappie, don't throw your line right out in the middle of them. Instead, start along the edges of the school and work your way inward. This way, you won't scare the fish away before you have time to reel in a nice catch. If your bait lands in the middle of the school they will scatter in all directions and you will have to search for another school of fish or call it a day.

When you use live bait, it's recommended that you catch your minnows or other baitfish from the same waters in which you plan to fish for the crappie. It's a known fact that all species of fish will be the most attracted to the natural food source found in their area and ignore anything unfamiliar to them. You can do some background research before you head out fishing to help you determine what the crappie of that area will normally find naturally in their habitat. You can also go fishing for bait in the area that you plan to fish for crappie.

Keep the bait slightly above the school of fish. Their eyes are on top of their head so they will not notice or take any bait that is below them. When you learn this tactic, it will be easier and easier to do each time you go fishing for crappie. This will become a habit for you and it will come natural.

Know the area. When you know as much as possible about where you are fishing, this will help you catch crappie like never before. If you're going to be fishing in a new area, it pays to look up fishing reports and find other methods of getting information about the fish and the body of water you're fishing in. You can ask around

The next time you go crappie fishing keep these four tricks in mind and you are sure to have a great fishing trip. They're simple and easy to use and don't require any special equipment. You'll be glad you gave them a try when you see the number of bites increasing and notice your catches are getting larger each time you go fishing.
