There are millions of people with the infamous "Silent Killer". But many people don't have the disipline to take charge of their lifestyle to lower their blood pressure. Its really not that

hard, a little patience and focus will see you through.

Tips to lower your blood pressure:

1. The first thing I would do is get a home blood pressure monitor. There are many types out there for all kinds of people. I personally recommend the Omron monitor and use it daily. Just to clarify this, I don't have high blood pressure, my wife does, or should I say, had it. Because of due diligence and focus, she maintains it very well at normal levels. Anyway, she takes her BP readings twice a day and writes it down. I also record it on my computer, that way, we can spot any trends that may have triggered higher than normal readings. These days you can get a BP monitor that has software built right into it. So, Get a HBP monitor.

2. Heres the obvious, eat healthier. If you eat like crap such as fast food and many other take out foods, your bound to feel the effects of it, especially if you have HBP. In order to lower your blood pressure, eat the healthy foods you get at your local grocery store. Eating foods high in potassium, magnesium, and calcium are the best choices. The biggest thing you need to do is lower your salt intake. Look at the packaging on all foods to see the nutricitional value in them and the level of salt. Low salt foods will help lower your blood pressure naturally. Aim for the standard salt intake daily of 2300mgs (about 1.5 teaspoons a day), 1500mgs is better. This is based on the very popular DASH diet approach, and is the best diet to use to lower blood pressure.

3. Exercise. This is another very important step in lowering your blood pressure. Go out for a walk daily, just start moving. Get the blood flowing by simply walking around for 20-30minutes a day. If your overweight start off slow and gradually build up your exercise routine to shed those pounds off. You will certainly feel better and see your BP start to drop. If your not obese, do a little more exercise. Take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator. Try a little cardio workout. I bought an elliptical machine for my wife, she loves it. It only costs about 200 dollars and she uses it 2-3 minutes a day. This machine really gets the blood flowing and provides a pretty intense workout. I've tried it myself and its pretty tiringafter just a couple of minutes.

But do you know the hardest part of this whole process is? Commitment. Over the years many of us have settled into a routine lifestyle, whether it be good or bad. Now getting out of this routine, especially if its an unhealthy one, can be very difficult. But if you want to lower blood pressure naturally, then you MUST change your ways. Focus and dedication to lowering HBP should be enough to drive you to a longer, healthier life. You will thank yourself and see that once you reach this goal. Theres nothing can stop you from reaching any other goals in life. Good Luck!
