I was looking to hire a laptop for my next presentation which is very crucial and means alot to me. I searched on Google and came up with some products & services rental providers, who are engaged in renting computers, laptops, projectors and other IT products. I contacted them one by one and asked for quotes. After half an hour when I checked my mail I found more than 12 - 15 quotations from different laptop on rent services providers and alog with their product configuration, services they offer and pricing details.
After analyzing the quotes I found that its really costlier to rent a laptop for a minimum period of time. If we hire or rent a laptop for a single day it will cost the same for a week. As I had to rent one atleast for my presentation, I rented it on the lowest quote. You would have also gone through such situtations when you felt hard to decide whether to rent or not. Actually renting or hiring a products like projector on rent, home theatre on rent is not a bad decision. Somehow it fulfills our requirement for a certain time.
Noduoubt, If the pricing of rental services are higher for shorter time then its cheaper for longer period as well. I must accept that renting products and services of high values (price) for a little span of time would not be economical for an individual until or unless hired for a longer time. Rental services favor corporate and SMEs where the companies hire or rent products on contract basis.
Product rental services are also beneficial for outsourcing companies. They may rent the requisites as per their requirements and it doesn't affect their projects as well. So if you are also one of them has decided to start your own outsourcing company like BPOs, KPOs or a consutling firm, you should firstly opt to rent computers, laptops, projectors and other necessities on contractual basis. This will help you to avoid initial financial losses and dmages.
