"I use to have all these plans," said Williams, who was raised in Hillside.

Williams said she wanted to do something that would change people's lives.

A close association with her family's optometrist led her to pursue optometry as a career.

She said she is glad she did.

"I love it. It's very fascinating louis vuitton handbags. I love all aspects of eye care," said Williams, owner of Eyes On You, Family Eyecare and Optical on Irving Street.

"It's so much more than contacts and glasses," she said.

A patient could come in for a routine eye examination and leave with a possible diabetes diagnosis, Williams said.

She explained that during an eye examination, the blood vessels in the eye are dilated.

"They (the blood vessels) are the first to be compromised if there is a problem. If there is diabetes, they may hemorrhage. You can detect with dilation," said Williams.

She said brain tumors and hypertension also can be detected through the visual field.

"There's a lot that can come about by routine eye exams," she said.

Eye examinations should be scheduled once a Gucci handbags year, especially for adults.

"Most people come in only if their glasses break or there is a vision problem. That's a mistake," said Williams, adding that patients should view eye examination in the same way they view exams by a primary physician.

"You should definitely see your eye doctor once a year," she said.

Williams, who began wearing glasses when she was 12 years old, said children also should see the eye doctor once a year. Some eye conditions, such as a lazy eye, can be detected and treated in very young children.

Williams opened her business nine months ago, after previously working in Linden.

"I decided it was time to start by own independent practice," said Williams. "It was time to move on. It's something I always wanted to do."

Although she looked for a location in Linden, she preferred the Rahway louis vuitton handbags site, which is about two miles from where she used to work.

She said Rahway also had a familiar feel.

"I use to have an aunt in Rahway. We use to come here a lot to Rahway River Park," she said.
