subject: The origin of Cruyff Trainers [print this page] Dutch footballer Johan Cruyff is a household name to football fanatics. He is specially a legend in Holland due to his captaining the Dutch football team to the World Cup in 1974. With all the fame and success that he had got due to his immense talent, skill and hard work he wanted to give something back to the game of football that had made him so famous and so rich.
Cruyff wanted to make a football shoe that was as high performance on the field as he was. A shoe that would bear his name and a shoe that he would be proud to wear and to endorse. The legend behind the genesis of Cruyff Trainers is that Cruyff went to a number of the biggest and most respected manufacturers of shoes and trainers at the time to talk about putting his name on a line of football shoes and trainers. The manufacturers could not meet his demands for the level of performance, durability and quality Johan wanted from any shoes that would carry his name. Johann being the perfectionist that he was refused to relent and talks fell through with all the major manufacturers. If there was going to be a Cruyff shoe that he stood behind with his name it would have to be the best shoe available and the manufacturers simply could not make such a product.
Thus was born Johan's own company called Cruyff shoes that would make shoes that Johan himself would wear on the field and endorse and they would be the same shoes that any normal person could walk into a shoe or clothing store and buy. As one would expect shoes that were made of such high quality materials and to such high standards as demanded by Johan Cruyff himself were a huge success and buyers could not get enough of them. Cruyff Trainers sold like hot cakes and Johan quickly expanded his range beyond football shoes with footwear for a number of sports that promised durability and high performance along with the latest designs. All bearing the name of their creator and carrying the now famous reverse C logo that he first made famous on the football field.
Later Cruyff introduced another line of shoes inspired by another talented Dutch football player that Johan was promoting. Thus was born the line named after famous world cup player from Holland, Gerald Vanenburg. The Cruyff Vanenburg line of football shoes combined the same high level of construction with an even more stylish and streamlined look, all made in high quality leather that performed as well as they looked.
