The law of causation is the most fundamental one. Anything that happens is due to a cause or a seed. Whatever we see or are today, is the effect of a cause that has already taken place in the past. Each native is the master of his own destiny his own judge of reward / punishment. All the actions of body, mind and senses or the thought process and the reactions that follows it, are Karma. Every Karma brings its own reward / punishment. It is these causes of past which give predisposition in certain direction, makes it very difficult to do certain things and very easy to do the others. They give us instincts, traits, inclinations and make some ways seem better than others. Destiny may not be altered, but the road to one's destination can definitely be smoothened and made more functional.
The 3rd house gives courage, vitality, stamina, mental inclination and perseverance, while 6th house provides superior strength, seriousness, passions, competitive / combative and general success. Armed with these when one acts, the success and gains are bound to come as a result of 11th house fructifications.
In a chart destiny / luck is indicated by 9th house and its counterpart Purshartha by 3rd house. Life is a constant struggle of a native for improvement over destiny. 6th house represents our struggle and competitive nature. 3rd house is 6th of 10th house i.e. it indicates those Kiryaman Karma which one does with strong will and belief called Purshartha as an effort to smoothen the path of destiny.
The great progress which the humanity has shown over the centuries is because the natives have not accepted the destiny as it is, but have put in their Purshartha to change the course of destiny in a gradual but positive direction.
The four Aims of Life and Trikone
Dharma Trikones (1st, 5th, and 9th) houses
With their location forming a triangle relative to Lagna, these are most auspicious houses of all. These houses relate to our sense of purpose and the spirit that moves us. The planets posited therein get closely associated with destiny and hence gain strength. 1st house is the self or spirit. The 5th house is the inspiration of the sense of purpose through creative expression. The 9th house is our spiritual beliefs and truths. It is the realization of our spiritual connection to all through the spirit. These houses are also called Lakshmi Sthan or Dharma Trikone. While the Benefics here ease the flow of destiny, the Malefics could cause challenges to be faced by the soul and hence require one to connect with mystical inner selves.
Artha Trikones (2nd, 6th, 10th) houses
These houses are about our material achievements and the recognition gained from them. While the 2nd house is about all forms of material gains including wealth and family, the 6th house is related to the urge to improve through hard work and the 10th house is related to the public recognitions and power received through career.
Importance of 10th house
One may note the role of the 10th house. Minus 10th house, this group of houses becomes Trishadya houses an evil group. It is the 10th house, the best of Kendra's (Vishnu Sthan), the zenith of human activity, representing Karmas done by the native during his present birth. 3rd house is 6th (mental stability, success in competition and material prosperity) from 10th, 6th is Luck and Fame (9th from 10th) and 11th is 2nd (wealth, family and speech) of 10th house. It highlights the importance of Karmas because Karmas alone can give or take one's desires to their ultimate goal the fulfillment.
Kaam Trikones (3rd, 7th, 11th) houses
These houses are about fulfillment of our desires as we play our role in the world. The 3rd house is about our self expression and communication with stamina and perseverance to relate with others, the 7th is related to the joy achieved out of a long lasting relationship and public relation and 11th is related to the accomplishment of all worldly desire, money and friendship.
Moksha Trikone (4th, 8th, 12th)
Of all aims of life, Moksha is the ultimate goal. These houses liberate or free the soul from the bindings of earthly Karma. They deal with the past, with fear based emotions and with the essence of the soul. The 4th house is all about gaining the ultimate security and happiness of domestic life. The 8th house is our connection to the mysterious world, which can cause events outside our control and hence leaves the ego crushed. The 12th house is about the immense joy (bliss) one feels within, which can release all attachments of the world.
