subject: Is CMO an Effective Remedy for Joint Pain? [print this page]

Does CMO work? Is CMO an effective remedy for joint pain?

CMO, or cerasomal-cis-9-cetylmyristoleate, is a fatty acid ester found in the tissues of certain animals, including cows, sperm whales, male beavers and mice.

CMO was discovered in the early 1970s by Harry Diehl, Ph.D., a researcher who worked at the National Institutes of Health in the Laboratory of Chemistry of the National Institute of Arthritis, Metabolic, and Digestive Diseases. While trying to find a cure for arthritis, Dr. Diehl identified a compound in mice that protected them from arthritis. That compound was CMO.

CMO appeared on the market in supplement form in 1991. Supplemental CMO (which is usually derived from beef tallow) is the best way to obtain an effective amount of CMO.

Studies suggest that supplemental CMO acts as a lubricant for the joints and muscles, facilitates cartilage building, and is an anti-inflammatory agent. Plenty of empirical evidence has also shown supplemental CMO to be very effective at relieving joint pain and inflammation.

Here are five tips for supplementing with CMO:

1. Many of the so-called CMO products on the market today are actually cetylmyristoleate, not cerasomal-cis-9-cetylmyristoleate. These cetylmyristoleate products are usually inexpensive, but are not effective at relieving joint pain.

2. Take CMO for a minimum of four weeks before assessing its effectiveness. The effects of CMO occur over time, not right away.

3. Once joint pain subsides, continue taking CMO to prevent joint pain from occurring in the future.

4. Taking CMO together with glucosamine and MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), two other effective joint pain supplements, has been shown to increase their individual effects.

5. Try taking CMO instead of common pain killers such as Ibuprofen. CMO treats both the causes and symptoms of joint pain, while common pain killers only treat the symptoms and can often produce negative side effects.

In conclusion, if you suffer from joint pain, you should consider giving CMO a try. It just might be the remedy for joint pain that you've been looking for.
