From my experience the 2010 installment is the best version yet, and my computer sped up significantly following the initial scan. Another big plus is that the product automatically updates with new detection mechanisms on a regular basis.
#2. Spyware Doctor - PC tools is another vendor that brings first class brand recognition to the table. My techie friends continually rave about PC Tools products and I myself have also been impressed. Spyware Doctor has an impressive scan functionality, first class support, and is very easy to use.
#1. Spyware Cease - As impressed as I was with the two other products I've mentioned, Spyware Cease was a clear winner for me in terms of improving computer performance. My PC literally ran like the first day I purchased it and I continue to find my that computer remains spyware free. Spyware Cease has an incredibly deep scan and the best system diagnosis that I've come across. Another big perk is the new Real-Time Guard which includes the program informing you by displaying a popup on the bottom right of the screen, whenever any program attempts to modify registry.
