Having plumbing issues? Most people put off calling a plumber for back up drains and other household plumbing issues because hiring a plumber can potentially put a hole in a person's wallet. Although some issues may be temporarily solved by products such as Drain-O to unblock drains, more serious issues must be given the attention of a plumbing professional.

For issues dealing with gas lines, they must absolutely only be touched or handled by a licensed professional. Even though small gas leaks can be easily detected by the nose, only licensed professional plumbers own the proper equipment used to test the pressure of the lines which have the ability to detect the size and seriousness of the leak. The special equipment used to test the pressure of gas leaks is designed specifically to fit gas pipes and joints. These tools are very expensive, so most likely no home owner would own the equipment themselves nor would they have access to it.

Main water lines should also only be handled by licensed professionals. The reason behind this is mainly because any work being conducted on a main water line requires the line to be shut off. This means that the entire streets water will be shut off. To achieve turning off streets water, a person must obtain special equipment that only licensed plumbers usually own. However, homeowners do have the option to attempt to fix any problems dealing with their main sewer lines. Equipment used to fix blockages in sewer lines may be rented by homeowners for a few hours at their local hardware stores. This is only recommended to homeowners who have complete confidence in completing the task and have other experience in plumbing work. Otherwise, calling a professional plumber would be in the homeowner's best interest.

Blocked drains and clogged toilets are common plumbing problems that occur in every household. However, if plunging the toilet and clogged drains has stopped doing the job, than you're probably dealing with a bigger problem. A sign of a bigger issue is noticeable slow drainage in multiple sinks in the house. If this is occurring it's time to call a professional plumber. If these issues are not taken care of right away, the homeowner could be facing a frustrating and expensive plumbing overhaul.
