How Can I Influence My Baby's Sex Or Gender? I'll Tell You

I often get emails from folks who want to know how to influence, determine, or chose their baby's gender or sex. Interestingly, I find that most people already know with a great degree of certainty whether they want a girl or a boy baby. I do have a few people who want to know which gender is easier to conceive and will then go with what they feel is the easiest (at least for the first time out.) But most have either already had a boy and want a girl this time (or vice verse) or have a preference as to which gender will fit in best with their family situation. Some people come in with the expectation that they aren't able to conceive either a girl or a boy because one gender seems to run in their (or their partner's) family. Although I concede that you may be more likely to get one gender over another, you can certainly always change your results by changing your methods. I'll explain this more in the following article.

Which Factors Influence Or Determine Your Baby's Gender?: There are a couple of factors here. First off, to put in the most simple way,if a Y sperm chromosome gets to and successfully fertilizes your healthy egg first, you'll get a boy. The opposite is going to be a true if a healthy, strong X gets the job done (you'll end up with a daughter.) If you do nothing and you and your partner are reasonably typical and healthy, you'll have roughly equal odds (50 / 50) for either of these scenarios (if pregnancy occurs and results in a birth.) A man's sperm is typically made up of equal numbers of X and Y.

But, this isn't the end of the story. Because there are other variables that go into which of these (X or Y) has the advantage. Timing, PH, and the way that the sperm is sent on it's way toward the egg can all work together to influence or determine the final result.

Breaking Down Gender Selection:

1. Timing: One important factor into all of this is when you send the sperm to the egg. I mean this in terms of your ovulation cycle, not your menstrual cycle, temperature cycle, or cervical mucus cycle. Women make the mistake of trying to gauge other things, but what is really the most important is when you actually ovulate, no matter when it is that this occurs. There are some women for whom this happens around mid cycle, but this is not always the case and this can vary a great deal each month.

That's why I like to advocate using a very good ovulation predictor. You want to measure your bodily fluids (urine, saliva or blood) because they show changes in your body to show that ovulation is coming up. And, once you do this, then you'll need to act accordingly. If you want to conceive a girl baby, you want to strike early in your cycle (around 72 hours before you ovulate.) If you want to conceive a son, you'll want to wait until the day that you get a positive reading that ovulation has actually occurred and can continue to strike in the days following this.

2. PH: Once the sperm is released, it will begin to travel to your vaginal tract. When there, it is either going to meet friend or foe in terms of PH. A foe to Y (boy producing sperm) is a high PH or an acidic vagina. If you want a son, you'll need to lower this reading and ultimately be more alkaline. Girl sperm (X) can actually handle either scenario. But, you'll be more successful in conceiving a girl if you have a PH that is very much on the high side (so that you can weed the boy producing sperm out.)

There's a lot of misconception about how to change your PH. Many people try to do this with supplements but I don't like to advocate this for a few reasons. First, every one knows that food is the best way to get nutrients. Second, many of these so called vitamins contain herbs that could alter your hormones. This is certainly not what you want to do because you need a very predictable and reliable ovulation schedule. There's no need to make more obstacles for yourself when you can get what you need from foods. All foods can either read as a high PH or a low PH. So, you'll want to change your diet to be in line with this depending upon which gender you want.

If changing your diet isn't your thing, you can try douching. This will often yield pretty fast (but temporary) results. Food results are more lasting, but if you're able to time douching correctly (and then confirm that you are in the correct range with PH testing strips) this can work too.

3. How You Send The Sperm On It's Way: When you send the sperm is vital. What the sperm encounters on it's journey (PH) is important too. One thing that you can do to control both is to think about which sexual positions that you are using. For a girl conception, you want to use positions that give you shallow penetration because this gives the Y sperm more work to do. The opposite is true (deeper penetration) is you want to conceive amale babybecause you need to give the Y's easier work and less distance.

I've put together a few websites that take a lot of the guess work out of choosing your baby's gender. You'll find step by step instructions, resources for douche recipes and food PH lists, information on when to conceive, tips, support, and examples of ovulation predictors / PH testing strips.
