With so many great wines that are currently produced worldwide, it would be a shame if you didn't get out and get out and get a taste of what foreign wine regions have to offer. There are so many wineries in the world that it can be almost impossible to pick and choose. Here is a list of my favorite wine destinations. Trust me when I say that you will not be disappointed in any of the following selections. Each area is unique not only in its physical attributes, but also in the differences of the wines produced by each respective region. Here is the list.

1. Mendoza, Argentina Although Argentina may be even more well-known for the quality of its beef and the quality of its ridiculous parties, the wine industry is no slouch in this South American destination. Quickly becoming a wine tourist haven, Mendoza produces some of most popular Malbecs consumed throughout the world. Other popular varietals grown in this area include Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, and Chardonnay. Be sure to visit the high altitude vineyards near the Andes and Mount Aconcagua. Should you miss out on visiting Mendoza in your trip to Argentina, there are many wine tasting options available in the capital of Buenos Aires.

2. Santiago, Chile Chile is the fifth-largest exporter of wines and the ninth-largest producer. Wine making started in the 16th century, and continues grow today. Compared to its neighbor Argentina, Chile does not have the best red wines in the area. But they do shine in their production of delicious white wines. Some of the most popular varietals in Chile include Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, and Merlot.

3. Tuscany, Italy This central Italian city that stretches to the Mediterranean cost produces some of the best Chianti, Sangiovese and Brunello wines in the world. It is also famous for its famous dessert wine, Vio Santo. Good news for all you green freaks out there: wineries in Tuscany are environmentally conscious.

4. Bordeaux, France Bordeaux could be the most expensive wine destination on this list. Wines of the highest quality come from this region. The downside is that they also come with a price. However, there are deals to be found in Bordeaux. The famous White Bordeaux is made here. It is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Almost all wines here are blended.

5. Cape Town, South Africa Last but not least, this South African city is famous for its Chenin Blanc. The Cape Fold Mountains have the perfect soil for growing grapes and wine making. The town of Stellenboch is famous worldwide for the quality and variety of soil. Other important wine regions near Cape Town include, Wellington, Paarl, and Constantia.
