subject: FaceTheme , Change Your Facebook Layouts [print this page] Heard of FaceTheme.com? Well, this is just the niftiest site for all of you Facebook fans. It can help you tweak your site and fix it up just the way you likeby either choosing from all the ready-made themes already there, or helping you make a theme that fits exactly what you need from scratch!
Problem is, though, it only works with Firefox (apparently the recommended browser) or Internet Explorer 8. But then again it's easy enough to download either browser for free, so no worries if you don't have these browsers. Just get them first and then you can start using FaceTheme.
Choosing a pre-made theme is super easy, just find the one you want and click the "install" button. But if you're like me, you'd prefer to make your own themewhich is what I usually do, just to make sure I have THE perfect theme for myself.
First thing you need to do is head to the FaceTheme page and find the "Create Custom Theme" button. Click that and you'll go straight to a page where you can work on your custom theme. Now you can put in any pictures you want, so I like to spend a little time before putting my theme together, selecting pictures and maybe touching them up before putting them in. I pick pictures of cars, places I've been, family and friendsjust about anything I've got here that catches my fancy. You can use Adobe Photoshop or whatever program you want for this. Add text, fix up color and so on.
And then when you're all set you can upload the pictures one by one. You get this working window on the bottom of the page where the pictures appear; you can drag them and drop them and rearrange them the way you like. And when that's done you can also fix up the background color, too; pick any single color you like. (If you'd like a particular combination of colors, though, or designs like checkers or whatever, you seem to be out of luck. But maybe that's something the FaceTheme folks are working on.)
When you're all done you can click on "Preview Theme" to have a good look at what you've just fixed up. If you're not happy you can keep on editing it and all; if not, you can just click the "Finish and Generate Theme" button. After that, all's set and you can use it for your site!
You can also find it a snap to share FaceTheme with your friends and get them to try it too. Just hit the Like' button on either the sidebar or the theme page itself to get them started on FaceTheme.
