On the other hand, many catfish anglers have used Ivory soap to effectively catch the catfish. Stinky baits are best and can be made at home or purchased from the bait shop. The area that you fish in is going to determine the best bait for the cats.

What is going to land many catfish one day may not even get a nibble the next. Be prepared for this by bringing many different types of bait and using them all until one bait type offers some hits on your lines.

Fish the Right Areas at the Right Times- When fishing for cats; it is important to know when and where the catfish are located at the time you are fishing. During the day, the catfish are going to be in the deeper water. If you are fishing from a boat, use your fish finder to locate sunken logs, trees or large rocks. This is where cats are going to be congregated and where you are going to find them. During the night, shore fishing is best as this is where they are going to be looking for food.
