subject: Manali ,the first taste of Himalayas, you can never have enough of it ! [print this page]

I got bored of studying for the test , asked Shubham if she was wanted to go somewhere and leave this test behind ? YES ! (She never says no to anything ! a hippie at heart !) . Rupinder as usual was apprehensive about leaving the test.....so she gave the early morning test and then we left for our last trip together from college . ( hoping we still have a lot more left ) As usual , we did not plan anything and as usual , we screwed up everything we could ! We took the private bus at night at around 8pm (please don't do this with yourself! Go for the government service ) from Chandigarh , took a halt at midnight at some dhaba , kept switching seats among us all night because of one Mr.Lucky ,Canada returned who thought we had never heard of Naigra falls and didnot even know it was a fall !!! Next morning I opened my eyes , around 6 am and all the backache and irritation just vanished . Beas was flowing all along the road !It was beautiful . Reached Apple View guest house, old manali , which was the topmost google result in our search for accommodation . It was a 2 minute walk up hill from the main road , hidden in the orchads . The guest house was very clean , homely , spacious ,surrounded by orchads and a bit secluded and far away from the main manu temple road .Now the thing is if you are 'too' peace loving ,not scared of mountain dogs and do not mind walking a slippery path in the woods on a slope even at night , this is the place for you! Turns out it was not for us ! one of the guys at 'friends place' We took a guest house on Manu temple road, old manali . It was called something like 'Friends Place' and was run by a bunch of cute pahari guys . View from our room in old manali

Also , it would be interesting to mention that I went back to Manali the very next weekend and stayed in vashisht this time . The Guest house was just out of storybooks, made all of wood , had 'snake and ladders' type ladders. It was run by a tibetan lady and her artist husband ,whose work you could see in the rooms itself. I just like to assume that they had eloped and decided to stay there ! And they had an interesting thing on the menu instead of food. A long list of Movies . acclaimed , not acclaimed , from various countries , movies on love , life ,travel , biographies, book adaptations.... one had to just pay rs 50 n you could watch it in a common room they had ,on a tv set , any time , any no.of people!!! (This place was just on the main vashisht temple road . maybe called 'megha') What we did there and who all we met , in the next post.
