Make It Relevant

Choose graphic elements that are essential to the message you want to convey in your design. You can make use of text, fonts, colors, images and other visuals but see to it that you remove the parts that you don't really need. Sometimes you can send out your message more clearly by using fewer elements because utilizing too many of them can only make your output look disorganized and complicated.

Be Consistent

If you're working on a project that's divided into several parts (ex. web pages, posters, brochures), you should always incorporate some consistency into the design. Be sure you use the same color schemes, fonts and concept so that the entire project can be viewed as one and your clients can easily make the connection.

Catch Your Audience's Attention

Think of a statement that best describes the product or project you're working onsee to it that it's catchy and attention-grabbing because most people won't bother to read something unless it's really interesting.

Make the Text Easy to Read and Understand

Select a readable and appropriate font for the design and choosing the sizing properly. If you're creating large posters, you might want to enlarge and capitalize the headline so that people can view it even from afar. When making smaller visuals, you can still capitalize the main statement as long as it's not taking up all the space. You can also italicize, bold or even add shadows for a better effect.

Use Proper Language

The last graphic design guideline to consider is the language you use in communicating with your audience. It must be suitable for their age range so they can quickly understand the message you want to send out. For example, if you're selling products to teenagers, then you could converse more casually. But when you're targeting professionals, you should speak in a more formal tone. Don't forget to check the spelling and grammar otherwise your potential clients won't take you seriously.
