Murcia and the Costa Calida is well known for its mild climate with over 300 days of sunshine a year and an average temperature of 19 20 degrees Celsius. In addition, cheap flights from the UK and cheaper rentals are attracting families to the area.

A number of Golf Resorts with excellent family facilities and 24 hr security, have sprung up in the area, including, Roda Golf and Beach Resort, Mar Menor Golf Resort, La Torre Golf Resort, Hacienda Riquelme Golf Resort, El Valle Golf Resort, Hacienda del Alamo Golf Resort and the well known La Manga Club. Facilities on the golf resorts include on site restaurants, bars, communal swimming pools, play areas, super markets, hotels with spas etc to make a family holiday enjoyable.

Luxury villas with private pools in Murcia are very popular in the summer months and are significantly cheaper to rent than villas in nearby Costa del Sol. Great for a family holiday or why not share a large villa with friends or grandparents? Apartments on the golf resorts are excellent value and very affordable for a family holiday, renting from 150 per week.

Many of the golf resorts are only minutes from San Javier airport and yet not near the flight path, even Roda Golf Resort, which is only 5 minutes from the airport by car. Great links from Alicante airport means you can be settled into your villa or apartment in less than an hour. Corvera Airport, a new international airport near Murcia, is due to open in 2011.

Beaches along the Mar Menor and Costa Calida are ideal for families with many achieving Blue flag status for their calm shallow waters and clean beaches. Some of the more popular beaches along the 7 mile palm-lined promenade include Los Alcazares, Playa de los Narejos and San Pedro del Pinatar. Murcia is also popular for its watersports, football, walking, fishing, tennis, horse riding and of course golf, including the Polaris World Golf Courses and now Ola Golf Courses.

Murcia is home to many historical cities including Cartagena with its famous port, shops and boat trip plus the capital city Murcia with its stunning Cathedral, museums, plazas and entertainment throughout the year. Like all Spanish regions, the Spanish love to celebrate and there are many festivals with carnivals, street parties and entertainment throughout the year.
