subject: What Are The Advantages Of Punctuality? [print this page]

You - or someone you know - may be possibly the least punctual person on the planet. The kind that's described as likely to be late for their own funeral. So, what are the advantages of punctuality?

Courtesy to the other party

If you're late, someone else potentially has been kept waiting. Depending on who that "someone" is, it may or may not affect you. At least in the short term. Longer term, the other person will adapt to your tardiness. They may decide not to schedule a meeting with you, favoring someone else who values their time more. Or, if it's someone below you in your workplace, they may decide to play subtler games, using occasional chances to undermine you or make things difficult for you. Of course, they may just decide to turn up even later than you, so it's you who is waiting for them. Whatever, the outcome is irritation for at least one of the parties involved.

Not everything waits

OK, you know that the published time for a cinema film is probably some 15 to 20 minutes ahead of the actual time so that they can show adverts and trailers. But some things just won't wait - that last check-in for your next flight, for example. If you schedule to "just make it", that's fine until something gets in the way. One too many red lights, a car in front that's slower than your granny, whatever.

If you're struggling to be punctual, take a look at using hypnosis for punctuality to help reduce or overcome your habit.
