subject: The Importance of Play-time [print this page]

Within some family households there are parents who believe that their children should not play but that they should work/ learn instead and that is quite literally- all the time. Flitting from ballet to music classes, having French language lessons and then home tutoring for extra Maths. Although this is definitely a positive message towards personal growth and self- development, the lack of soft toys and free-time' in a young person's development will encourage an all work' and no-play' attitude instead of a well-balanced sense of being able to explore new ideas, be creative and to simply just have fun and be a child.

Stuffed animals, soft toy animals, stuffed toys, soft toys,- whatever you want to call them all have a talk-ability' where onomatopoeia can be put into practise with pretty much any shape and within any sort of scenario or adventure. A soft toy animal such as a dog soft toy can bark and make a growling noise, cars can have speed and noise, can go to exotic places, through tunnels, be stuck in a traffic jam or simply just go under a bridge.

The materials used within these play-times have so many different textures including softhansa toys, that they have an immediate impact on their sense of touch. Realities of physical space and the conscious awareness of how material will and do influence the child's movement and growing up are also more and more apparent. Hansa toys for example, carry specific labels for teaching their young owners about the animal they represent; describing their habitat, lifestyle, care of young and also their eating habits.

There are bigger, more adventurous stories for each shape which encourages ideas, creativity, and forward planning. Puzzles can be introduced into the play-mix which again has the advantage of either sound or just new imagery in the form of animals, landscapes, vehicles, food etc.

In just a short amount of time you can teach your daughter or son better language skills by including directions, basic concepts of daily routine, the categorisation of some objects to others like the difference between safari animals and farm animalsand the list ultimately goes on.

Recreation is hugely important for anyone and soft toys like many others allow for the innocence of being a child to come forward. Always exploring, imagining, playing and making friends with others.
