The end of summer means that the fall festival season has begun. Whether they're outside or inside, fall events are a lot more funespecially since this summer was so unbearably hot that no one wanted to go outside to face the suffocating heat. Outdoor events in the fall means no more sweaty crowds pushing against hot food stands, and indoor fall events just mean that it'll be a lot more comfortable getting there.

The problem is, there are so many events going on that it can be really hard to find the ones worth going to. Here I've compiled a list of the festivals and events coming up that I am most excited for in the coming week and a half.

Though theFeast of San Gennaro started last Thursday, there is still time to check it out before it's gone for another year on Sunday, September 26th. Though the sentiment of the festival is religious, as it celebrates the miracle of the annual liquefaction of the saint's blood, the festival itself in Little Italy is more of a celebration of Italian culture. You'll find food from local Italian restaurants, games, merchandise vendors, and entertainment. The festival runs along Mulberry Street in Little Italy.

Dumbo Arts Festival, formerly the "Art Under the Bridge" festival, is larger than it was in years past, expanding its horizons further than before. It is comprised of a ton of free events relating to art, literature, music, dance, and more. There are a ton of activities going on during its 3-day runcheck out dumboartsfestival.com for the massive list of what's going on. The festival runs from Friday, September 24th through Sunday, September 26th.

According to the NY Craft Beer Week website, this festival "is an annual celebration of the [sic] New York City and its craft beer communityfrom the breweries and people who provide us with great beers, to the places we purchase and enjoy the amazing selection of beers available, and especially to our friends that we make time to share a beer with." A celebration of beer? I know a lot of people who would definitely be okay with that. There are way too many events to be able to properly summarize them, and while most of them cost about $50 a person, they entail an endless selection of beer to sample. Check out theevents schedule for information about individual events. This festival kicks off Friday, September 24th and continues through Sunday, October 3rd.

TheQueens County Fair at the Queens County Farm Museum looks to be a great time if you're looking for family-friendly activities. According to the Queens County Farm website, it's like a traditional county fair with "blue ribbon competitions in livestock, produce, home crafts, arts & crafts, and more." It also boasts a "Maize Maze," carnival rides, contests, petting zoo, food vendors, live music, even Big Apple Circus variety acts, and more. General admission for adults is $7 and $4 for children, though you'll have to pay extra for things like hay rides and carnival rides and games. The Queens County Fair takes place on Saturday, September 25th and Sunday, September 26th.

For those who want a little bit more of an exciting, risqu vibe, theEighth Annual New York Burlesque Festivalmay be for you. Four nights of "glitter and glamour," along with "eye-popping performances" guarantee a good time. According to the festivals Facebook page, "In addition to tassels and tail feathers, this year's festival offers live music, international DJs, variety and circus performersand a burlesque boutique." The tickets for the Brooklyn events are around $10-$12, while the Manhattan events are around $25-$30, but in my experience, the prices are worth itit's a really fantastic and fun event. It gets crowded though, so snag a good spot early. The Burlesque Festival runs from Thursday, September 30th through Sunday October 3rd. Check out thefestival's website for more details.

Just looking for a classic NYC street fair? You know, the ones that you always happen to stumble upon but never know about in advance? Check outthis website for a calendar of when and where these fairs take place during the rest of the fall.
