subject: Easy Guitar Songs To Learn [print this page]

You ain't Santana or John Mayer, but it doesn't mean that you cannot play the guitar. In fact, there are so many easy guitar songs to learn. They are called as such because the chords are not complicated. If you want something to play to when you're bored or entertaining a crowd, they are the ones you should immerse with:

You can start with "Feeling Alright" by Dave Mason. This one was performed when he still belonged in Traffic, so to add more diversity into the music, you can invite some friends to hum or serve as your back-up vocals.

Nevertheless, as a guitarist you may find this easy considering that there are only two chords to think about. Every chord is good for one measure in a 4/4 time. Hence, there will be four beats in between each chord. The tempo is slightly fast.

You also have a song from legendary Bob Dylan. It became such a hit that was revived by the Guns 'n' Roses. This is entitled as "Knockin' on Heaven's Door." The lyrics are simple and a very light song. It would take you less than an hour to completely memorize and even feel the entire song.

Most of all, you can conveniently pluck your guitar with it. It is based on G major; however, if you wish to capture the same sound produced by the rock band, you can opt for F sharp, which is just a half step. There are also just three chords that are repeated all throughout the song.

"Play with Fire" is a masterpiece of the Rolling Stones. It is another simple song. After all, there are no adlibs, though you can be very flexible with the chords once you're already familiar with its structure. Bottom line, though, it has verses, which are three, and a chorus. There's also interlude in between some verses.

Like Mason's song, there are few chords to remember. In fact, there are only four of them, and the music is basically in E major. Timing is in 4/4, and its speed should be slightly fast.

The Animals has also a fantastic song that you can learn within the day. This is entitled the "House of the Rising Sun." It is also a very easy song to do too that you don't need a very powerful vocal to back the strings of your guitar.

There are quite a number of chords here around five of them. Nevertheless, since the song doesn't have a very complex melody, you can conveniently navigate through the different chords.

If you're already familiar with the tune, you can add your own style into the song to make it more personal and even fun for you to play to.

Of course you really cannot expect to learn all these songs overnight. You also need to make yourself more familiar with the chords, so you can "read" the notes of every song. However, with constant practice, you can increase your repertoire and make yourself proud of your accomplishment.
