They are secured by using a heavy base or built-in mounting accessories. Others are movable around outdoor tables and secured through a hole placed at the centre of the table.

Patio heaters are also a good choice for outdoor party-makers. These are preferred when people like to sit outside during relatively cold weather. They may be either of the portable and self-supporting type, or may be of the permanently mounted type on and patio roofs and eaves. They mostly operate on electricity, propane, bottled butane, gel alcohol and of course wood. The varieties supporting natural gas or LPG are either permanently plumbed to a location or connected to quick connect outlets.

Even modular fire bowls and fire pits are becoming widely popular and available in various forms to extend outdoor fun. The tall clay chimenaes of United States and Mexico is a good example.

Materials used:

The most commonly used are plastic, wood wicker, wrought iron, aluminium, teak etc. Wooden furniture can suffer though weathering elements and so they need to be periodically maintained. Among various wood available, teak is the best option available. It naturally contains silica which makes it resistant to fungus, decay water effects as well as many chemicals.

Aluminium is a very good material for the outdoor furniture. It is light weight, robust, strong and long lasting. But if the "protective coating" is damaged there can be chances of the furniture being corroded.

Plastic and resin are good cheap alternatives to metal. They are waterproof and can be left outside around the year. They can also be moulded to resemble wood or wicker and are usually very durable.
