subject: Revealing 3 Effective Steps To Beginning The Guitar Journey [print this page]

Beginning the guitar journey is sometimes an additional stress inducer that you can't face. It's understandable that you maybe have school or work or even another hobby. That's perfectly fine. However, you may begin to realize that there will truly never be the "perfect" time to learn the guitar.

But, unlike what most people think, beginning to play the guitar is not as complicated as it appears. Yes, becoming excellent and an icon as far as guitarists go is a bit tough, but getting started is almost a breeze and you can do it too.

Let's take a look at the very foundation steps of what it takes to start learning the guitar.

1. Start by researching your instrument.

It might appear that you just walk into an instrument store and throw down your money, but that's actually a terrible idea. With a plan like that, you're more likely to leave with something that's completely wrong for you and will cause you to become discouraged and quit.

You need to do a couple essential things when researching an instrument:

* Check out reviews.

Get on the internet and start looking up guitars for people beginning the guitar. Reviews will tell you exactly what's wrong with the instruments and what the high points are so you can narrow your search down substantially.

* Compare prices online and in stores.

After you have an idea of what you might want, you need to look for that bargain price. Even if you can't find an amazing deal, you should still look for the lowest price or some sort of deal that offers a gig bag, guitar case, tuner, amplifier, or other things along with your purchase as a package deal.

2. With the help of an experienced guitarist, make a purchase.

Notice that this step doesn't say go by yourself. You're just beginning to play the guitar and you don't have any experience with buying one either.

If you don't think that you need the help of a professional, you're quite wrong. Ask a buddy who's been playing for awhile to accompany you on a short trip out to the music store to help you make a purchase.

They're going to check out the instrument for two important things:

* Is the instrument easy to play?

Most guitars for beginners don't feel the best, but it shouldn't be unbearable to play the thing.

* Is the instrument well-crafted?

Are there any gaps or scuffs or does the guitar feel really cheap in general? You want to purchase something that's going to stay together for another couple years at the very least.

3. Sign up for online guitar lessons.

Sure, you can go ahead and attempt to teach yourself how to play, but I would prefer to just get down to business and learn from someone who actually knows how. You see, learning the guitar is all about taking preventative measures to make sure that you're not wasting your time on mistakes later on when you're learning real music.

And, by signing up for online guitar lessons, you can learn such things as:

* How to lock into a song's tempo

* How to transition from one chord to the next

* How to properly loosen up before each practice

* How to stay motivated to keep playing
