subject: Moms, Are You Preparing for the Future Job Market? [print this page]

The economy may be in a slump, but it's still smart to invest in your future. This is sage advice for mothers in particular. Some careers are rising fast, and getting a scholarship now can help get the education to meet those work needs. Technology will continue to be a vital industry. Digital and wireless capabilities continue to advance, and new technology is being developed constantly. It takes many people to develop these products as well as to help people use them. According to some estimates, there will be increased demand for computer software engineers. Two other well-regarded careers are network systems analysts and data communications analysts. Another area where there is anticipated job growth is healthcare. If being a doctor or nurse doesn't appeal to you, there are many other medical fields to consider. Athletic trainers, physical therapists and occupational therapists provide vital support for patients and will be very much needed. Some analysts also think behavioral disorder counselors will be highly sought. Many healthcare jobs require advanced education, but there are many opportunities available for careers that don't. There are some indicators that the economy and job market could see significant growth in the next five years. Financial planning will be an important area in many sectors which will provide jobs. Education is the key to getting a job in any of these areas. Moms are often hardest hit by a poor economy. Luckily there are programs targeted specifically toward them. The recent Grants for Moms initiative was started by President Obama and his administration. The $5,000 allotment can be a big help in paying for a number of school-related costs. Hopefully more mothers can earn the bachelor's, associate's and specialized degrees that are needed to fill important positions in the work force. Women have plenty of responsibility for caring for children and families, and hopefully the grants for moms can take some of the burden off trying to get an education. At the many colleges and universities throughout the nation the world of education is tremendous. For moms out there who are searching, there are many good opportunities for you.
