If you're looking to escape the hectic pace of the city or just to relieve some stress from working a weekend camping trip maybe just what your looking for. Whether you sleep overnight in a tent, a camper, or RV camping can be a lot of fun. But there's more to camping than just sitting a campground all day. Many campgrounds offer hiking trails, beaches, swimming pools, and fishing opportunities.

Fishing is always a favorite with kids and doesn't have to be complicated for them to have fun. Just remember to keep the fishing techniques simple so that they can do it themselves or with little help from you. A simple option that works in almost any body of water is just a worm on a hook, a split shot sinker, and maybe a bobber as bluegill will be the target fish. Bluegills are typically plentiful in most waters and easy to catch. If you have room consider taking along a canoe. Most importantly don't forget the snacks and bug spray.

Canoeing or kayaking is a great way to enjoy the outdoors while camping and even offers a little exercise. Parents and kids can enjoy floating a river or paddling the shoreline of a lake. Many rental businesses will exist near campgrounds which means you don't even have to worry about owning or hauling a canoe or kayak around, just rent one when your group is ready to go.

Biking is another activity that the entire family can enjoy when going camping. Whether is the campground itself or local trails everybody can get involved. In many cases bikes can also be rented from local businesses or you may choose to bring your own along. Don't forget your helmets and safety pads along with checking your bikes over for loose hardware and inflated tires before leaving.

Spending time around the campsite can be more entertaining by bring some board games along or lawn games such as a Frisbee, football, or a baseball and gloves to just play catch with. It doesn't take much as the kids will use their imaginations. There's no reason to be bored at the campground, just spend a little time to plan a head. Most importantly don't forget the graham cracker, marsh mellows, and chocolate to make smores with.
