subject: New Fiat Bravo Wiltshire [print this page]

The Fiat Bravo is a small family cars produced by the Italian automaker Fiat from 1995 to 2001. The name was revived for 2007 with an all-new replacement for the Fiat Stilo; the new version will only use the Bravo name. The earlier Fiat Brava/Bravo models were two versions of the same car, the Bravo a three-door hatchback and the Brava a longer five-door hatchback.

Fiat is back in the family hatchback market with a bang. The Bravo is a replacement for the Stilo, a car that wasn't very popular due to its dull and a cheap looks. Its replacement may use the same name as Fiat's three-door hatch from the mid-1990s but this car is a generously sized five-door that is a credible alternative to the likes of the Ford Focus.

Fiat Bravo are available in five engines, with an 89bhp 1.4-litre petrol model kicking off the range, the turbocharged 1.4-litre T-Jet is a much better bet. Fiat Bravo offers three excellent turbodiesel, a 1.6 that comes in standard- and low-C02 forms with 118- or 104bhp (automatic gearbox), and a 163bhp 2.0-litre.

One of the Bravo's best aspects is its quietness. Road noise is well suppressed, and although there is some wind noise, it's not intrusive. Engine noise fades into the background at a steady cruise. The Fiat Bravo was awarded a maximum five-star rating in Euro NCAP crash tests, and twin front, side and curtain airbags are standard across the board.

Basic Fiat Bravo models come with:

air-con

CD player

front electric windows

remote central locking

alloy wheels

climate control

Bluetooth
